U. Phantasticus Eggs

Looks like someone left me a little somethin' somethin' last night!

This is not one of the recent imports, but is one of my LTC u. phantasticus females that I have had for about 1.5 years. She had been paired with a male all that time and I recently lost the male about 2 months ago. These eggs are not fertile, as she glued them to the leaves (although she still seems to be protecting them), which I have known to be common with them, u. lineatus and u. fimbriatus from my experience. If they would have been fertile, they would be little perfectly round white pea-sized eggs and she would have buried them at the base of the plant, which this particular female has done previously, although I have never been able to hatch out any of her eggs. Either they were duds or I just didn't know what I was doing. (but I'm guessing the former....) A customer of mine here in Chicago who has purchased some of my uroplatus has managed to hatch out about 4 of these little guys and man, are they super tiny.

Sorry about the male, but very nice little pearls you have there! Poke and prod your customer for the secret! :O

Believe me, I already did. I wasn't doing anything different than he did, so I'm guessing they were just duds. But they were cute little duds. :)

Well the fact that she is ovulating is a good sign! Get a male in with her so the next batch will be good! I am looking out the window waiting for my Lined Uro’s to show up. I just need some mossy now and I will have all the common types :p

Aw. Could be that. :( I had 4 crested eggs go bad towards the end of the season (somewhat glad they did, I was running out of room!)

I'm sure you will have better luck next time. :)

What is the cook time on them? I thought it was about 45 days?

Incubation time for all uros is (generally) 60-90 days. The guy here who has hatched out baby phants (from the same female of mine that laid these particular eggs) said his have taken approx. 3 months. As you know, it depends on conditions/temps, etc. These particular eggs in the picture ended up not making it. They were growing and after some time (i.e. longer than 3 months), both of them were developed but dead inside the egg. I was thinking I didn't have it moist enough, but who knows.
