Just in case anyone is squeamish, this may be considered gross by some, involving fecal matter.

I put, Tricky back on a vine (that slightly sticks out of the enclosure until I close the door) after holding him and feeding him. The reason I took him out was because he was basically asking to. He walked on my hand on his own.

When I set him on the vine, I couldn't close the door because I would be hitting him and I didn't want to bother him. So I just waited patiently until he would move. I noticed him extend his leg like a canine does when they urinate. I wondered why he did that, but then I got the idea he was going to urinate or defecate (is there a specific term for lizards?). And sure enough, the first thing that he did was "urinate," or release excrete his urate. It was surprisingly cute to see him lift his leg like that. I guess he wanted it to fall, to the ground rather than right on the same vine he was sitting on. Unfortunately, the door was open so the leaf that he'd normally do this on (he seems to do it at the same spot most of the time) wasn't going to hold his fecal matter. So I had to hold the leaf up myself. Usually the screen door does that for me, but remember, it was open. It was all gooey, other liquids coming out as he excreted his stuff, as though the ooze (what exactly are these fluids btw?)was holding the fecal matter until until it hits the surface, whatever the surface may be, leaf or paper towels. I had to hold the leaf up, basically catching this with my hand so that it wouldn't hit the carpet floor. Thankfully the leaf was acting as a sort of napkin. But then, Tricky decided to walk onto my arm. And just stay there no matter how much I tried to put him back. Then my brother was calling my phone. But I couldn't reach it with my other arm. …what a hassle. lol

Anyway, everything was quite fine, he released his urates and feces. But what I have NOT seen before, were two red things coming out of his vent. Both red with the tip being white. My question is, was this my first time seeing a hemipenis in person? They went right back in.

And second question, what's your method of cleaning up a plant, like the pothos plant I have? Next time I clean out his enclosure I'm going to have to scrub everything, from the plant, to the floor to the entire screen enclosure. lol After witnessing him do his business, I feel a sense of obligation to clean the leafs thoroughly.

Don't think I have ever seen up close a chameleons hemipenis, but when we sex our ball pythons we have to force the hemipenis out of the vent and it sounds like that is what you where seeing, but that's only from experience in sexing pythons, so I could be wrong. As far as washing the plants, we just pull them out and hose them off outside, trim them up and put them back in, I guess we just keep it simple, no problems yet.

Works for me, thanks. XD

I'm no expert but our male has done this as well. He's actually done it while on my hand and my husband's hand on different occasions. On one of them his hemipenal came out as he lifted his leg. After which he wiped his vent on my hand....

Oh my. Tricky (my chameleon) just "wipes" himself on the vine. Which I then wiped with a napkin. lol

A little more info. The eco clean they say you can use around your BD with no rinse. I only spray the cage floor if he's in there and only a tiny bit. Any time I spray anything else or on the leaves or vines I take him out. I then spray really good everywhere, let it dry and then do a good rinse with RO water (running mistking and spraying with the bottle). Then he's good to go back in if needed.
