twitching?

So i'm treating Trogdor for coccidia and hookworms, yadda yadda yadda, i'm sure the board is tired of me talking about it.

I've been noticing something lately. Trogdor will open his mouth, almost like he is stretching it out, then he will close it and shake like he got the chills. I've even caught him twitching while he is sleeping.

Am I being paranoid?

urate

Well, if the urate is sometimes on the yellowish orangish side, that means he is dehydrated...
yeah, thats all i can really help with.
Good luck with your chammy

What is the treatment? It would not surprise me if some of the drugs could color the urates slightly.

Well the Urates are always white but they might have a little tinge of yellow and orange on one end.

He is on Albon right now, we did have him on panacur as well but we decided to just do one at a time.

Man if it's MBD I'm throwing in the towel

Dont do that. IF it is MBD, its stopable/treatable. Its very dificult to try to giva a diagnosis over the net, If you do have these suspicions you might want to look up a good vet.

Albon can be devastating to chameleons. Is there a reason you are not using ponazuril? Pancur will not be your problem. If you are going to not use one I would recommend not using Albon. It is a horrible drug that in a lot of cases is worse than the parasite. There are much better alternatives.

Has you chameleon stopped eating yet? There is a good chance he may soon and you will have to assist feed for a month or more. (Courtesy of Albon.)

MBD is very treatable. I know, I have sucessfully treated one of my own! Go back to the vet. Albon is hard on chams. There are alternative drugs available for the treatment of coccidia. Ponazuril is the treatment of choice.

No towel throwing allowed! :)

Lets get off the MBD thing. That is not the problem.

Let me clarify my responce. If it were MBD and the vet that prescribed the albon and pnacur did not see it. It is time for a new vet.

ALBON IS OR WILL BE YOUR PROBLEM

Ponazuril is your friend against coccidia.

the "throwing in the towel" statement was just me being frustrated because I'm pretty sure I take pretty good care of him for a newbie. I have you guys to thank for that.

The reason i'm not using panzuril is because I don't have access to it. I had my girlfriend who is a vet tech talk to her boss about it but he didn't really go anywhere with the idea and just told us to give the meds one at a time. I can't get my girlfriend to bug the guy again and risk getting in bad standing with him.

I would go to another more progressive vet then. Sounds like this one is stuck in the old ways. Giving the meds one at a time is going to do nothing for you. Panacur is not dangerous. ALBON is.

At the very least you need to start giving lots of extra water. I would like to help you avoid what a lot of people have had to go through with Albon. The problems are just starting. I am pretty confident you will begin to see more.

Show this to your vet , or to your new vet even the ordering information is there.

Search for albon on this forum or on google, it is an outdated method.

I've been giving him water by hand with a syringe along with his mistings. He took Albon two days last week then I skipped a day and he has gotten it for the past two days. Last night's dose was only about half of the .05 ML because he turned away right when i was squeezing the syringe.

He did eat this morning which was suprising it wasn't a ton but he had a 4 crickets, after the first two days of treatment he didn't eat at all. I think I might only have one day left of the stuff.

COCCIDIA SUUUUUUUCKS!!

Yeah it does! Cool looks like you may be ok since hes eating. I just hate to see people go through the crap that goes along with albon.

we were seeing a couple of dark days, right now i'm worried that because the amounts weren't perfect and we skipped a day we are going to have to restart because he won't be clear.

we'll see with his next fecal.

skipping a day should not be a problem with a chameleon. It is believed that they circulate the medication for much longer than a human or dog. Their metabolism is a lot slower.

In the event you need to treat again. PM me I will help you get ponazuril somehow. You will be a lot happier.
