Trixxi's digging!advice please

Hi all........well Trixxi started digging at 3 o'clock this afternoon and at the moment all i can see is her tail,back legs and the bottom of her belly..(freaking out!) Question is should i turn off her lights at the normal time (9 o'clock) or leave them on until she is out or finished?? any help would be gratefully received

do what you want. with my female i turned the light off because she is in my bedroom but i don't think they care. She was laying eggs and not digging. if she was digging i would have left them on

When my female veiled started digging at 4 pm and I just let her do her thing and the lights went off at 7 pm, she just kept on digging, I think she was more clam when the lights went off.

i was just looking at her and couldn't tell if she was breathing or not! i can't see her head at all..starting to panic!please someone tell me if i should dig out her head or loosen the sand around her!!

I would keep an eye on her but give her some space. Everytime I went to see how far my female got she would just stop moving and when I left she would count digging.

What do you mean dig out her head, she should be in a tunnel.
If it has collapsed on her, get her out of there!
If she is kicking and moving the sand around, and is fine in the tunnel then leave her.

I couldn't help it...i loosened the sand a bit around her head 5 min ago and just went to check on her and shes out on top of the laying bin with a big pile of damp sand on her head!i probably should have left her alone but i really couldn't see her breathing and thought she might have suffocated! OMG.....how stressful is this!!!!!

if your laying substrate is damp enough,she will be fine.
my yemen female always sleeps in her tunnel before laying her eggs.

I couldn't help it...i loosened the sand a bit around her head 5 min ago and just went to check on her and shes out on top of the laying bin with a big pile of damp sand on her head!i probably should have left her alone but i really couldn't see her breathing and thought she might have suffocated! OMG.....how stressful is this!!!!!

You really need to leave her alone.
They know what they are doing and any more interruptions may cause her to abort the project altogether.
I understand how stressful this can be (believe me) but you are going to make it much worse by interfering.

I'm sorry,i will leave her in peace then so,any idea on turning off the lights?she came out and then went back to digging again,she is still in there digging now,lights on or off??? When i said "dig her head out" i meant that her head was in the tunnel but i looked very tight so i loosened it

Got here a little late,Ronnie, Replied your PM. Really best not to disturb her, if it did collapse she could dig out. The sand or soil should be moist enough to 'stay' though.
Let us know how she went, but it might take a while. Try not to be anxious!

Hi all....she slept in the hole last night and was still in there this morning.At about 2.30pm i checked on her and she was out sitting in one of her high vines,so i gave her 5 crickets and 3 small locusts all dusted in her feeding cup, refilled her dripper and covered her back up!so whats next?do i leave her alone for a few hours and then go looking? whatever hole was in the laying bin has been covered up and i'm not sure what to do next???

Does she look thin? She probably laid the eggs.

She didn't really look fat in the first place!! so i can't really tell that way!

I'm glad she's all done, Ronnie! You can breathe a big sigh of relief now! Usually people wait until they return to the branches before removing the laying bin. That said, with both her clutches, Lily returned to the tub and carried on covering up and shifting the dirt again the following morning. Her digging reflex was also very strong and she wasn't very steady with walking for a few hours after her last clutch.

She still hasn't eaten anything! she won't even look at her food or take a waxie from me (not like her!) i thought she would be starving!?

I wouldn't worry just yet. Lily laid on Easter Sunday and only ate 2 waxies the next day. Her appetite returned again on Tuesday. She's probably worn out!

Oh my poor baby!her head was completely covered in sand(like a hat!) God knows where they get their energy from!Shes sitting under her basking light dark brown warming herself up.......
