Here is a pair of mantis that I found in the garden earlier today. They were thinking about mating then this evening I found this.

The picture did not turn out that great. However the female is eating the male.

I think thats the end result. They mate and the female eats the male. Kind of f'd way of life if you ask me.

The males do not get eaten all the time. Every once and a while a female think a male looks good enough to eat and has a potential lover snack.

Who know I only see this behavior occasionally. Its definitely not the norm. Maybe it is a lovers quarrel and the female is the biggest of the two.
