Tossing out an idea (fischeri)

I am on a waiting list for a new species to me. Kinyongia Fischeri from Seeco.

I am building new enclosures for him and fredo. (he might get kicked out for another fischer sometime)

Anyway, i have been trying to decide on a size. My current screen DIY cage is 36 x 18... I am going to build this one as two in one. 4 x 4 x ?? So each cage will be 2 x 2. But I am having trouble deciding if i really need it 4 feet high as well, or if i should just do 36 or 40 inches. The air in utah is pretty dry so to help with that i was thinking plexi glass door and i'll also have a wooden or something non see through that separates the two cages. but can also be removed if i get crazy with a breeding project eventually (doubtfull) or if i just want one big cage of a single animal. Its also going to have two feet underneath for my water drain containers.
Anybody here with experience have any suggestions on height for this species or any other suggestions about anything? I am pretty handy when it comes to building things and have access to almost any tool i could need/want.

All I can say is congrats on your soon to be new addition! My guy is just awesome...I'll be getting a female in the next few months. Post some pics when you get your guy!

Oh I sent you a PM but I'll say here that 36 for height is fine. That's a whole yard and you can fit a whole small ficus tree in there. Keep in touch as you plan so I can offer feedback on the cage -- especially drainage.

As for the cage, 36" high would be fine. If you do go for a plexiglass door, make sure you have screen venting under the door and on the top to create a chimney effect (air in the cage warmed by the lights rises which draws fresh air in from the vents in the lower front of the cage (below the doors).

I am going to finish drawing out my plan today and go buy wood so i can get the water sealer on it to let it dry out for a few weeks.

Now, do you guys think i should do the plexi glass to somewhat help humidity, or would all screen be fine? I was only doing plexi for humidity reasons but i'm sure i could find other ways to keep it in (fogger/humidifier) Plus i do have a mistking so i can have it water as much as i want.

if you have a cham room like i do you can just get a humidifier like i got the plants will help with the humidity levels. but my pref is screen cages dude.
