Too much saliva

My Panther has so much congestion in his mouth. His mouth has bubbles of saliva. Does he have a respitory infection? I have an appointment tomorrow late afternoon. Ugh not good at all.

Should I buy a humidifier? It is low.

Ah, a couple of things that might clarify what's going on...

Is he drinking a lot more than usual? Does this extra saliva show up WHILE he's actively drinking? Does it stop when he is NOT drinking? Is he active, eating, and moving around the cage? If so, he may be dehydrated. Very thirsty chams can drool a LOT while drinking as if they can't get the water in fast enough.

On the other hand, if he is NOT active, is not eating, drinking, or paying much attention to the world around him, sits dark and quiet directly under his basking light much of the time, and if he rests with his snout pointed straight upward, if he is gaping and gulping over and over, puffing out his throat, those are signs of a respiratory infection.

I hardly ever saw him drink. But he ate well. Then he started to open his mouth a lot. Then 2 night he slept with his tongue out. Then he started to blow bubbles and have a lot of saliva. Yesterday he drank. Then today he drank. Lots of saliva. He has been moving around but he's eating less each day. Has pooped everyday but one. Do you think I should get a vet visit.

Sounds like a good idea.

I took my Panther Lincoln to the vet. He got a hydration shot, vitamin shot and antibiotics. So hopefully he will be better soon. He seemed better today. Glad I brought him in. Sure made me feel better.

That is exciting news, Meg! I would recommend that you still monitor him closely for the next few days. These guys are magicians when it comes to hiding their illness. He definitely has an interesting PJ color.
