Tongue grabbing?!

I took a slow-mo vidio of Pascal eating a black fly larva and it looked like his tongue was grabbing it do any of y'alls chams do this too. Warning gross tongue pic

Yup, that’s how they do it. Besides being sticky, the tongue kind of grabs the prey. Very cool!

That is normal chameleon tongue feeding behavior. Shooting the tongue to catch prey is an amazing chameleon behavior. Academic studies have been done about chameleons hunting with their tongues.

I feel like it’s similar to an elephant trunk lol it can grab and suction at the same time except elephants don’t retract back in mouth, it’s on face instead.
