Ok, I think that he is shedding am I right? He is starting to turn white on his tail and by his back legs and along his back and eyes. He doesn't look very happy at all. He ate all his crickets this morning and looked fine. This would be his first shed with me and I'm just checking with the experts here and seeing if this is normal.

Certainly sounds like a shed - they do sometimes get a bit grumpier than normal and may lose interest in their food too. Shedding always fascinates me - I've seen it so many times, and I still love watching them! It's the sole of the foot that gets me - they shed it in one piece just like they would take off a dirty sock!!:D

Yup!!! Their colors usually start to look very dull, then if you catch them before they "burst" they'll look like they have a sheet of white over them. Take some pictures!

Miss Lily and Mr. Wilson,

Thanks, I had a good feeling that was what was going on, just wanted to check here on the forum and see. Yes, he looks like he's trying to hide when I do go and look at him. I'm sure in his mind he's saying 'leave me alone' so I will, but I'll get a few pics of him. I've only had him since last Wednesday so this is all new to me, but fasincating at the same time:)

my chameleon is a little mad when he sheds. when they shed, i think they will sometimes fire up to expand there bodies and get the skin off.
also they will also rub up against branches and such.

Hi chameleon884,

Thanks. Yes, he is no doubt shedding. Doesn't want me to look either. That's okay, he's going to be handsome when he's done:)

Wow, the whole shed only took about 3 hours. That's fast. I bet he's happy now. Just saw him take a drink:)
