Tips: How to weigh a chameleon

I need help thinking outside the box on how to weigh my aggressive male veiled chameleon. I don't want to do anything to stress him that I don't have to, so I thought you guys would have a good idea or two on how to weight a chameleon.

I have a small digital scale that only goes up to 500 grams. I have weighed my frilled dragon with it by placing a tupperware on it, zeroing it out, and sitting him on the tupperware, but I can do what ever I want with him and he doesn't care. My chameleon is totally different.

maybe you could try with a small or fake plant? weight it ahead of time, then weigh it with him in it...

id use a bigger scale. place large stainless steel mixing bowl on it. zero it out "tare". place him in the bowl.

I took a branch and mounted it with hot glue to a piece of cardboard so it stays put. "Tare" it out then put lily on it.

My cham doesn't really move too much, but I raise chins and to weight them I often use an icecream bucket, if you painted the inside green maybe it would be less stressfull to him? You can put on the lid if you need, and if he's hard to handle you could kind of "scoop" him into it

I use something tall and have them climb onto it from my hand or stick, instead of putting them in something. I've used anything from a full little spray bottle to a candle holder.

what about putting an egg carton on the scale? it works for me
like so.

There's really no wrong way to do it, as far as I can imagine. Put thing on scale, tare, and put chameleon on/in thing. Ta-da!

Anything they can grip on to is best, regardless of what it is. I always use whatever is within reach, be it a spray bottle, branch, or fake flower pot.

Maybe have him chill out in the freezer for a while! never mind he would just slide off the scale.Im thinking its better to think inside the box ;)JK
