I thought I share this simple and basic tips since I have great success in using this plant for my chameleon enclosures:
Ok! that's it from me. Happy planting!
Well, that's it
- They love lights! I always open the window in the room every day whenever i can and let sun light permeate the room. If you live in area where winter get harsh, you can purchase growth light to help.
- Rotate the dying plant. Keep an extra hibiscus handy. and, let the "stressed" plant enjoy unfiltered sunlight to regain back its strength.
- Keep the temp between 60 - 90 F (not a big deal since those are the temp range in the chameleon cage anyway)
- Keep it watered well with warm water (not a problem either). Don't let the root rot. I use plant raiser to raise the pot away from the ground couple of inches.
- Feed your hibiscus. My neighbor raise earthworms organically and use its casting as fertilizer. And, i get to have some earthworms and its castings once in a while to throw into the pot. I notice a huge difference between a hibiscus pot without earthworms and the one with them. I believe it's ok for your chameleon to eat earthworms in case one or two decided to get out of the pot.
- Prune your hibiscus to encourage budding later. The best time to prune it is in august - october.
- it's good to once in a while change the soil and prune some of the dying root.
Ok! that's it from me. Happy planting!
Well, that's it
