Throwing up?

Picked up my new veiled just yesterday, which i had to transport him in a small enclosure for about 3 hours in the car. Very active and sweet. He ate and drank and basked this morning. Then kinda just hung out on his basking branch for a few hours and looked around.
Then just this afternoon he threw up out of no where. NEVER seen this before in my life. I don't know if he was just extermly stressed out from the car ride yesterday or if this means something way more serious. He is going to my vet tommrow morning but in the meantime if anyone has any suggestions on why he did this and what i can do to get him rehydrated again? Shower probably? I know i shouldn't feed him again today because its too close to bed time. I'm exteremely concerned

he is acting completely normal now. i just got finished giving him a warm shower which he HATEd and refused to drink anything. He just ran up my arm, i mean RAN

Well it's a good sign that he's acting normal now. Where did you get him? A good long warm misting next time might not upset him as much as a shower.

Not sure if he wants me to say but i got him from another forum member. He has quite the collection of some really good looking chams with ones with some awesome locales. My guys daddy is a big ole meanie and his mommy is beautiful. His brother and sister are fine. No parasites or signs of a URI which are things the vet said could be causing this, or stress

And i take back that he is acting normal now because he just fell asleep for 20 mins after the shower experience and its only 5:30 pm so I don't know if he is just an early sleeper or there IS something wrong!!!:(

have you asked the member from who you got the cham if he was acting strange the last days ? or anything abnormal ? maybe its just the stress, i guess let him be for a while and see how it goes , he is in a new home, new cage etc so probably thats the reason ! and about the sleeping mine was a little bit confused 1st days ! after that he just accomdated !i guess just to much stress !i hope your new cham will be ok !

Good idea to contact the breeder to see if anything was going on before you picked him up and to make them aware of the problem.

he said nothing was up. the only thing he had to say was he wasen't the biggest out of the batch that he had gotten from his girl but he was healthly. he said he was a little piggy. and all seemed well. i'm waiting it out till tommrow morning when the vet can better tell whats up. like i said i've never had a cham lose his breakfast before?

Jann, he was one of my babies. He was perfectly fine before getting picked up, and his brother and sister are doing fine as well today. I have no idea what is up with him throwing up, I've been looking around at older threads but have found nothing.

The only thing I could guess is that he was eating his shed, but i've seen that happen before.

hey there he is doing fine right now at least. he only threw up that one time today. i disected the thing he chucked up...ewww. It was mostly composed of 2 medium sized crickets, some foilage and some weird looking black debris? I don't know if maybe he got into one of the potted plants in the enclosure. I checked them all and none of the river rocks had been moved and no soil is exposed. I'm going to take this werid pellet to the vet tommrow along with his fecal.

Maybe he had ingested some poop or actually bit a part of the plastic plant in the carrier?

We took out the plastic plant on the way home because he was still eyeing it up. I just ran to go check the plant for bite marks just to be sure though. I don't see anything missing or any chunks but that doesn't mean he wasen't super sneeky. Like i said I'm continuing to moniter him and I'm definately bringing him in to the vet tommrow just to be absolutely sure something more serious isen't going on. I'm hoping he is going to be okay!!

Let me know what the vet says Jessica. If I dont respond immediately tomorrow its because my sister graduates, but please let me know. Like I said, his brother and sister are fine. they were eating like crazy today and drinking water normally. Dang, poor little guy. I feel bad :(

I feel bad, don't you feel bad. I feel responsible because he is now in my care and he did that. I promise though I will let you know what happens at the vet and I promise to info you on his condition tommrow. I'll make sure to pm you. He is in good hands so no worries.
Oh yes and congrats to your sister graduating and have a good time tommrow!

I doubt either of you have room to feel bad. The same exact thing recently happened to me. I'd ordered my 3.5 month old Panther from across the country, and the day after I got him he stopped eating. He then proceeded to vomit the next day and choked on some water the day after. He didn't eat for a week and I was a hot mess. Thank god he is back to normal, but I still have no idea what happened. I think when animals are moved, it's a lot more stressful than we believe it to be. I think in my case, there was an underlying problem and shipping amplified it. I'm not saying this is the case with your Cham though. The breeder said the exact same thing too. My Chameleon had been fine, brothers and sisters were fine, and he was one of the best eaters. It sounds almost exactly like what happened to me.

Whatever it was, he didn't eat, vomited, but drank a lot. He got it out of his system and had no other symptoms of illness. He looked like one of the healthiest babies I'd ever seen. Hopefully your guy will get it out of his system too. Is he still eating? Were the crickets he vomited extremely visable, or did it look like they had been in his stomach for a while? I'm thinking he could have ingested something and the stress from traveling probably made it all come up. That's just a shot in the dark though. The thing that's really rough, is you don't expect something like this to happen after you just bought a Cham. I had to wait a week to get paid to take him to the vet because I'd just spent a couple of hundred on him. Luckily he improved before driving him 3 hours away for an expensive vet visit. But things like this happen, especially to people with horrible luck. Haha. I would set up a vet visit just in case, and try to keep him hydrated in the meantime. You want him to eat, but maybe a small amount. Kind of like eating toast after you throw up. Makes sense right? And just be easy on yourself. Neither of you are to blame. It is a random bad occurrence. I have a feeling you won't be able to figure out what happened exactly, but you can help him improve. Make sure temps, humidity, water, food, and cleanliness are all 100% perfect over the next few days. Let's get your new baby feeling better again!

he ate this morning. about 5 medium crickets. The ones he threw up were being digested and had been broken down but not broken down enough that i couldn't tell that they were crickets. I'm going to the vet tommrow morning. Luckily my cusins fiance's father is avialable at his house for me to take him to tommrow. he is going to take his fecal in and do test on monday at his office.

If my panther has had a big day or just really active in his free range all day, he'll go to sleep early (like 5:30pm and his lights go off at 7:00) so maybe he's just really tired?
