THOUGHTS of a "beginner" cham?

i am thinking of a Panther or i will try to get a cheap rudis, their is a reptile expo coming in a few weeks. "worst" case ill get a pygmy

i am going to keep looking. Any good websites or links would help a lot.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just remember you get what you pay for...chances are the rudis you say are most certain Wild caught...but if you can, get a panther

well whatever you do dont get a veiled they are mean and stress easy and my little isnt taking food unless we arent there

Oi, that doesn't mean they aren't wonderful and amazing lil' guys who need some love!

Veileds, as well as every other cham can stress easy and they all have their own little personalities!

Honestly? If you really want somethin' that looks pretty, in my eyes at least and somethin' that is easy to take care of... I would say a veiled. Honestly the males have such awesome casques and really awesome coloring! Panthers also, seein' as they have a very unique color line up depending on if they are nosy b's, faly's, ambilobe, etc. but I really wouldn't know if they really are considered beginer. Check out the classifieds and the website sponsor's if you want to look around and see the prices and different breeds.

I think he means in a sense for chameleons. I don't think anyone of us have given the slightest hint they can be easy in terms of, feed and let live.

If that is the case though, and you really want something EASY as in just feed and kinda ignore and it will all do the work? Get a plant, at least you can watch it grow.

My easiest chameleon to care for so far has been a WC graceful that some one didnt want. Yes I imagine it has parasites, he's an awesome small simple friendly hardy chameleon. I take him outside a lot and he gets plenty of sunshine and sprinkler showers. Eats all kinds of little bugs outside and doesnt really go to far. Goes for walks and even has a traveling tree. My other chams I barely interact with at all.

GF is a flourist and goes from perenials to annuals and this and that... I see her do the work for them and I have seen her do the work for her beardie. She doesn't make salads for her flowers

I would honestly suggest just doing a bunch of research of all the types you might be interested in. You will get a lot of different opinions on here and only you know how much money, time and energy you can invest in the chameleon. good luck!

I would just really condense it all down to remembering this...

You are taking a life into your hands, a life that is worth more than the money and time you are going to end up investing into it. If you can't find yourself really being able to spend that money and feel it in yourself that no true ammount of dollar is too much in consideration of being spent (within your limits of course) then you might want to truly think of something else, joking aside.

These guys are fragile, stressy, and time consuming. They are charming and unique as much as they are pissy and grumpy. They don't come out to play like some other lizards and depending on how well you maintain it (and in some cases, regardless) can leave your life the minute you grow so attatched, he/she is part of your family.

Veiled sounds good I will look into the graceful. Pygmy will be way way way back on the list.
