This is regarding dubia roaches, so please help me out.

i don't see a SINGLE adult dubia in my container, no problem. i've had them for over a month now purchased all as tiny little babies. no problem i can wait.

but why are some the same size as when i bought them? is it possible she's laying eggs? (the dubia adults) are they hiding from me or what?

or are they egg laying before it's possible to distinguish their sex?

some are about an inch in size and some are WAY less than that. Could these inch sized ones be breeding?

lol i was thinking maybe they had a genetic cap in their growth. so did i just buy 500 mentally retarded roaches? haha.

Midgets are not mentally retarded. I know a midget or "small person" and he is normal as can be mentally. Not that I think you meant any offense but just making sure no one gets the wrong idea hereb When I recieved mine they were mixed, but there has been a constant flow of nymphs and few of the adults are over an inch, im no expert on them, but if you are seeing nymphs that were not there before, or seeing them at all really, I would think this indicates that they are breeding.

i meant that their genetics were "retarded" not their size makes them retarded.

and it's odd because all of them look like nymphs, but i have some really small ones... like 1/10 the size of my finger

Well, you said "mentally retarded" Well you could seperate them, by size, and observe there growth that way. Counting them may be an option, unless you have 1000's.

i guess i can count them. i've fed some off so what should i expect?

i ordered 500. let's assume 10% overcount, that's 550.

i'm not sure how many i've fed but she's a female so it shouldn't be much.
maybe like 60?

yes they are live bearers, but my point is that i'm not seeing any adults for there to be little ones runnign around... i see very large nymphs but thats all

If you are planning to start a dubia colony you need to buy adults.

DUBIAS TAKE UP TO 6 MONTHS TO REACH ADULTHOOD.

They have a LIFESPAN of up to 2 YEARS.

As for the size difference, some could be growing faster or slower but if you don't have any adults I don't believe its possible they could breed. And since dubia birth live young its not possible for eggs to have been in there somewhere
