I live in los angeles, And i have been thinking of putting my little guy outside to live.Is this a good idea?

If the temp is right then sure. Good rays are always a plus for chameleons. I don't know what the humidity is there but thats also something to consider.

Isn't your chameleon a Rudis?
I think it might be too hot outside for him.
They naturally live in very cool temperatures in the mountains.

I live in SC and have mine outside on a screened in porch. When the temps are going reach over 95 in the enclosure (ambient) I set the mister to mist extra on those days and I keep the heat lamp off and he is fine. In the winter I will have to bring mine in most likely, but I am not so sure about the winters in LA ;)

I too live in the area and am currently keeping my cham outdoors all the time. You shudnt even need a basking spot during the day. The problem would be providing shade for him. Winter is another problem though, he will have to come inside.

I used to do it here in SoCal... Some species wouldn't be able to handle it ...If it is a Rudis as Brad mentioned, then you would have to keep him inside for the summer. I kept Veileds outside... and they seemed to like it... But the issue I had was nightime lows. It would be 90 in the day, then 59 at night. I had to put some CHE's on thermostats out there to kick the heat on once it got too chilly at night, even in the summer. I was a pian in the butt and is kind of a risk if you ask me... When I had mine outside a few times I had to run home from work when I saw the temp outside was ready to pass 100'... that is just simply too hot for Chams, It became a pain keeping an eye on the weather to make sure they were okay. I recommend keeping a nice indoor setup... then have a cage outside to let him kick it in when the weather permits.
