So if you've followed me somewhat, you will know that Chandler has had issues with in his back legs and not using them. I recently took him to the vet to get a blood test done and the results came back normal with slightly elevated calcium levels. Since I suspected vitamin D3 as a culprit for his issues, I cut it down to once a month rather than once every two weeks. Currently, I have a 10% T5 Arcadia bulb and a t8 5.0 exoterra bulb on his cage. Since he has developed these issues and despite two months with calcium with D3 for two months and still had elevated calcium levels, I'm starting to think that he is getting enough uvb to synthesize enough vitamin D3 himself that calcium with D3 may not be required. This is also due to the fact that most recently I have noticed the swelling gets worse a day after I give him calcium with D3. I'm going to contact my vet and consult them about it, but I also want your guys opinion on this. Chandler is also exposed to natural sunlight during certain times of the day as the room gets too humid if the window is left closed. So is it possible he is producing enough D3 to not require it as a supplement?
