It's an interesting point about dogs because it brings into question the definition of a species- animals that can mate with each other to produce fertile offspring. All dogs are considered the same species, yet imagine a chihuahua paired with a Great Dane. There's no way they're are phyically compatable- a Great Dane and a Chihuahua could not mate, so therefore they do not fulfill the defintion of a species and should be classed as seperate species? but then you have to consider that they are genetically compatable & could in theory, produce fertile offspring. They only match half the definition. Dogs are arguabley coming to a point where we have caused them to speciate by selective breeding.

My very good friend owns a chiahuahua pitbull mix. You also have to take into consideration not if they will breed but artificially inseminating which people do amongst dogs. (Not that I am thinking of doing it with chams just making a point)

lols no yea your right, just trying to figure out how frank had a cluth of a graceful and vield ( its NOT like am trying to start breeding, i would never want my girly hurt ''/ )

Grammar makes everyone nicer. It is very difficult to read some of your posts. I'm not trying to be rude, but it's true.

Anyways, there are a couple of species that can interbreed when it comes to chameleons, but most have wild ranges that overlap/are very close to eachother. Dogs are different because they are the same species that us humans have bred to look different.

I've also seen a chihuahua breed with a large dog before, so it's possible to do it naturally.

I'm sorry I don't mean to step on everyone's toes but I don't see the big deal about his grammar or anyone's else's for that matter. It's a forums guys. Lets not all forget why we post here. Not to be grammar police or say that using proper grammar will make everyone nicer. The OP has always had legitimate posts that are always on topic and has been nothing but nice and wanting to gain more knowledge to give his cham a better life. I mean isn't that what we all are after anyway?

thanks man i appreciated that, me been born in a world of gangs. have made spell things much diffrent, then what you guys are use to seening but w/e at the end am just trying to become thats person everyone at some point looks up too for advise and knowledge .

besides there's kid in here am not trying to teach or put a bad example nor make anyone read stuff that has nothing to do with my chameleons, thanks you very much tho:D

The last post was much easier for me to read. It's not that (at least) I am trying to be the grammer police, but it's just very difficult for me to read things when they are written without or with little grammar involved. I like to try and help or inform as many as I can, but I feel that if it is difficult for me to read or understand I cannot do it as well as I would like. Spelling and grammar dont have to be perfect (I know mine certainly arn't) but if the writing gives me a headache to read I dont even want to try and help. Plus, if it were an emergency, writing clearly helps you get more responses since people understand it better.

I think you have to understand that this forum is open to everybody worldwide. And for people who care for their chameleons. So language is an issue, but shouldn't be reduced to it. If you don't want to respond to a thread because of your headache towards the language, don't do it.

If people are saying bad things because of the content of their thread, then we as experienced keepers should be there to comment, help and criticize.

But for me e.g. English is only my third language and it is sometimes difficult to express myself also. I am therefor more sensitive maybe to a lot of snappy comments related to grammar and language and expression issues which occur in this forum, which I see in many threads.

Then don't " Pshh " the tittle to this isnt " Oh please pshh help me " -__- it's a discussion , and you n i already had our disagreements in the past. so lets just leave it at that

which is Always By the same people -___- Thanks for speaking up tho!. God only knows how many times i gotten into fight with people about this, if you cant speak another language. Then you never going to know how it feels to talk n say things differently in every language .

you complain about your headache, what about the one i get to try to explain everything from one language to another

I know dogs are the same species, and that we artificially inseminate them, the point I was trying to make is that many couldn't mate naturally & therefore don't fit the dictionary defintion of a species.

Ulrich, I'm not trying to be snappy, just explaining why, for me at least, grammar can be an issue. I understand that not everyone will or can have perfect English and I am okay with that. The others who had commented (and the comments got deleted, probably because they were rather rude) had expressed difficulty reading the OPs posts so I was explaining my reasons.

To shineru, perhaps you didn't mean it the way I am taking it, but I am reading your comment as very rude. Yes, we have had differences of opinion, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to help you. If you don't want my help, let me know and I won't respond anymore.

Was that in response to me lysin? If it was, I mean that I have actually seen a chihuahua mate with a large dog naturally, not through artificial means. The male chihuahua was hanging off the female by his man bits, but he managed to do it.

Part of the issue here isn't the difference in the obvious physical characteristics between these animals (color, horns, etc), but how different their DNA actually is. Humans may select for different dog characteristics, but if these differences only affect minimal parts of the species' overall DNA, they may not actually be different enough to prevent breeding. Remember the news about how similar humans and chimps are genetically? We look very different but something like 98% of our genome is identical. There are probably portions of the DNA sequence that cause more profound differences than others (something like how ova reject sperm or certain proteins that prevent fertilization) and maybe this is why some species that seem like they should be able to interbreed actually can't. Species that have been isolated from each other for a much longer time (in terms of evolution) probably have more of these fundamental changes in DNA than others.

I think species that can physically produce young but not VIABLE young (hybrids between some cham locales) are species that are sort of in the middle between species that can interbreed and those that can't at all. Eventually if their "journey" continues they won't be able to interbreed at all.

I see what you're saying and I was gonna add to it, cos it's interesting to discuss it but this thread has gone sour for other reasons.

My boyfriend is dyslexic, as much as he tries, grammatical errors are envitiable.

help don't criticized, everyone tittle to their opinion in here. um dyslexic too, and speak more than one language. if you don't understand it & your just gonna say something else then its better to keep it to yourself, don't take it personal but your aren't the only one i had gotten into fights about the same thing. I respect you as a person, even when we do have different opinions after all you did try to help me with my Jackson who which is beautiful now and green & red, thanks to you and a lot of nice people that were able to provide me with proper care for him, thanks for that.:D
