Thermostats

I'm a bit confused. Say I was to set my thermostat to 90F does that mean my heat source would turn on when temps drop below 90 and turn off when they go over 90? If not how do you use a thermostat because i'm a bit lost now. My thermometer is saying the temps are at 33.8, the thermostat arrow is pointing to around 80F and the green light is on meaning the heat source is on.

Should work just the same as in your house for heat. It should kick on when it is below and shut off when it hits the temp. If it was really 33.8 F it would be freezing. Shannon is right, it must be Celcius.

No this is for my leo's enclosure lol I think its because the ttemps at the thermostat censor is about 28C and the temp I was measuring above the heat mat was 32C. The thermostat was set to about 32 so it was obviously goin to stay on until the temp for the thermostat censor (at 28c) reached that of 32C
