"For most species, body temperatures quickly stabilize between 29 and 32°C, which they maintain while the sun shines (except C. schubotzi at 19°C)"...I wonder why C. schubotzi is different?...

Chamaeleonidae schubotzi a.k.a. Trioceros schubotzi
Trioceros schubotzi is found on Mt Kenya at ~4000m (13,123 ft.) I'm guessing it may be pretty cool up there.

That is the first thing that came to my mind as well. That Trioceros schubotzi is adapted or has evolved to higher cold montane conditions. There are the prospects that other high elevation chameleon species are similarly adapted I think. I am going to read the article in a moment.
