Getting a crested soon myself. Who has had good success with screen cages? I was thinking of going screen instead of glass.

Screen is good if you can keep the humidity up, however, Exo-Terra seems to be the cage of choice with most people when it comes to cresties. (I'm too cheap for exo's )

However, I really wouldn't suggest doing screen though, because I've seen a gecko that ripped a toe off from running up the screen quickly.

It's all your choice, though. Just make sure you basically baby-proof the cage. Sand off all sharp edges, etc. They have delicate skin.

They are fragile little ones, so you have to take that into account.

Pluuuus it's so had to find a female.. she was a steal at 40$ plus i saved her from her nightly gangbang. She was in a tiny tank with 2 huge males. Like, really fat geckos lol.

Screen cages.....

I don't see anything wrong with screen cages other than the difficulty in cleaning doo doo off the screen. Geckos tend to poop vertically. The poop falls down but the liquid/urate stuff runs down the vertical surface. It's a breeze to clean off glass. A pain cleaning it off screen. I clean it off the glass sides every day and just can't imagine spending the time to get it off a screen surface every day! I don't see any other reason not to use screen cages. It's just too much work for me!

Great point, I forgot (since it's been a couple months since I've used screen with these guys) about the poop thing.. but for the most part they'd rather poop on me than anything.

So what is the reccomended zoo med terrarium size for 1 crested?

What about 1.1 or 0.2?

I guess I could calculate the gallonage of them, but I am lazy.

18x18x18 is good for one, I believe they suggest the taller ones for a breeding pair, and the largest for a trio.

Basically if you want a 1.1 you would need 30 gallons (20 for the first and 10 gallons for each thereafter).

0.2 Would be the same.
