The real question is "What's Waldo? "...

I've had Waldo since February. I was told he was a 7 months old, Ambilobe ambanja blue bar.

He's now 13 months old and I'm pretty sure he's NOT an ambanja ?

He has some interesting markings and colors, but they aren't always apparent.

First off, his tail is funky!! It's been like this since I got him, and it works fine, so it's not damaged (veterinarian checked as well) . In the sunlight you can see that one side of his tail is green and the other side is red! In artificial lighting the green side just looks black.

Next, I saw the black bars on his face once, early in the morning, right after I had first gotten him, but I didn't see them again for a while. The next time he showed them he was out on the porch, taking in some sun.

And the same thing for the next time, that's when I saw the black bars and all of his awesome colors.

I know the Sambava have the U on the side rather then the Y or the V, but his isn't a definite U ?

So?? WHAT'S WALDO?? any guesses?

So you were told he was a cross ambilobe/ambanja? Well if that is the case... Then he is not going to pull the typical colors of either locale because his genetics are mixed with both.

That's what I was told, but I just don't see any ambanja ?

Right but he is a cross not a pure ambanja... So you will not have pure colors or even patterns of either line. It is like taking a Purebred Labrador and breeding it with a purebred German Shepard... Two totally different dogs.. And you then get a mutt. Because your mixing the genetics.

I get that, but he has the markings and color of a Sambava (minus the true U band on his sides). Seems to me like he's more Sambava than anything ?

Could you cross a Labrador and a German Shepard and get a dog that looks more like a Husky ?
