The Girl Who Was Jealous of the Chameleon

There Once was a girl
Who was Jealous as can be
Of a chameleon she received
At the young age of three

Mr. Chameleon
Oh how do you climb
With such magnificent grace
Why can’t it be mine?

And How come your tongue
is two times your length
Oh the bugs you can catch
just sitting in one place!

And How can those eyes
look two different ways
If I had that
I would read books for days!

And how come your colors
turn so vibrant and bright
My color stays the same
through morning and night.

Little girl, said the Chameleon
how I envy you so
Your clothing can change
Come Summer or Snow!

And how come your nose
Can smell for miles around
The way I smell
Is by sticking my tongue down

And how fast your are
I cannot keep up
You can chase down your food
While I have to eat from this cup

The two went on comparing
For days upon days
Until one day they agreed
They are each special on their own way

Today they are still friends
Though they had a problem with this story’s name
they talked and agree
And this is what came

The Girl Who Admired the Chameleon.
