so i was bored and suddenly got this idea for an escape proof feeder bin! all you gotta do is put your feeder bin in the middle on one of those childrens water play tables, and fill the moat with water, tada! no more loose feeders in the house :) could even put in fish to eat the escapees!

well there's a mid-evil type escape free trap idea for them :) seems too messy for me though, i'd end up making a river in my room lol. How are your crickets escaping from bins anyways?

they dont escape anymore from the bin, but they do occasionally from the cage -.- its a pain, ill be walking around at night and *squish* or i find my cat tormenting them :p

I hate to pop your bubble. But crickets can swim. I tried to kill some males that were chirpingin my bin. I tossed them in the toilet (i even tossed some toiletpaper on them to keep them under water to drown them). Well to my suprise they swam under the TP and to the edge and tried to climb up the bowl.

hahaha, they cant really swim, more like float ans squirm, but if theres no way out, they will dround ;) trust me, i find about 5 or 6 crix in my drainage bin when i empty it..stupid cage escapees -.-

Good idea! A little extreme maybe but still good. There are sticky cricket traps that you can buy to catch the odd escapee here and there or to help mop up after a major cricket escape disaster.....I was wondering if there is a making DIY cricket traps? Has anyone ever made there own sticky trap that worked?

yep..it has 4 legs, a long tail, and is furry all over..i swear he catches at least a cricket a day, and then eats them to dispose of em ;)

I asked about DIY traps a few weeks ago and someone suggested putting a spoonful of molasses into a plastic water bottle and leaving it on its side (Squish one part to get the opening of the bottle low enough to climb into). The crickets go in but don't come out since they get stuck in the molasses. When its used up, just put a cap on it and throw it away.

I have an escape proof feeder bin. Its a tub, with a lid!
I know, genius right?:p I used to have an issue with a few escapes, due to my small cages design(it had holes for sensors and stuff). I honestly havnt had an escape in months. Just have to be careful;)

every single time a cricket gets near water in my house it like instantly dies. no matter how little of water it can be they just all seem to wnt to kill themselvs... lol

lol dont get me started on things wanting to kill themselves >.> i had 5 african dwarf frogs in a fish tank...along with a bichir which is like an eel..he could care less about the frogs, but liked his floaty plant...each frog got on top of the plant and fried themselves -.-
