The dreaded eye issue continues! PLEASE HELP!

I apologize I thought I responded back to you but it must not have posted. You're right, I thought it was liquid vit A but it's liquid vitamin like you said. I have cod oil, can I use that or just buy pure vit A at store?

The compound you are looking for is retinal palmitate, which is real vitamin A in its natural form. Fish oil has some in it, but I would look for a gel-cap product that has 5000 iu's or higher per cap. At those concentrations, you need only a smear, such as you could put on a cricket's back, or if directly into the chameleon's mouth, just a moistened q-tip that will leave behind a smear on a gum, etc.

You do not want to put a full drop directly into your chameleon's mouth. As this is an oil-based vitamin, chameleons despise it. A smear they can handle. A drop or more can cause a negative reaction, to include attempts to regurgitate.

Folks have mentioned the possibility of issues now in the eye. One of the problems with vitmain A deficiency is that it then enables other issues to occur, such as eye infections, the hardened mucous noted, and other more internal issues.

Fluker's reptile vitamin has real Vitamin A in it, but only a maintenance dose. I would have a vet look at the lump, and do a professional flush. Then I would dose with Vitamin A daily for 5-7 days, and then just 1-2 times per month.

Good luck.

I could be completely wrong as the chameleon company and fluxlizard both have 20 times my experience with chameleons. If this Vet/doctor is familiar with chameleons. Id definitely suggest taking him to that vet/doctor. We are all truly guessing here without honestly having a professional with instruments to take a look at him.

1. Ive never personally noticed this in any of my chameleons to know if it is normal or not. Judging on how it looks. It doesnt appear to be normal.
2. Lump. There is another lump directly across from #1 also.

I emailed that pic to the vet, thank you. Well I'm definitely going to take him next week to see the eye doctor. This doctor completed his residency at an exotic vet who specialized in chams so I'm hoping he can find the solution. In the mean time I'm going to start the vit A and give him lots of showers. Thank you all for your help. This website is a lifesaver for cham owners.

Thank you for explaining this to me, I understand it a lot better now. I will do everything I can to help him get better. Thanks again for the help.
