The Big Question…

Hey everyone!

I’ve been wondering about my juvenile Veiled’s age since the day I got him. Since he’s a male, I recognized that he would naturally mature larger than a female… but I’m not good at guessing.

My unprofessional estimation is 3-4 months. I’ve had him for maybe 1.5 months, if it helps. Please help me estimate if you can!

Please keep in mind that my poor baby has MBD. Though he hasn’t worsened, his casque may be sunken a bit because of it.

To me, he looks maybe 5-6 months old or so.
There was this really neat blog post I saw some months ago that had a photo of each month of a male veiled's development, and I so wish I could find it again. From what I recall, the patterns seemed to get more complex with age, and Rango's patterns stand out a fair amount, so I think it's possible he's a bit older than you're thinking.

I usually go by casque size and pattern developement with male veileds. Your sweetie has a shorter casque from his mbd and already has his beautiful patterns well in place, so he is at least 5-6 months old, if not older.
I’m really looking forward to his full recovery and how his gorgeous oranges develop.

Its going to be very hard to give a close answer due to the extreme MBD. This impacts their growth. I agree with MissSkittles 5-6 months at the youngest but could be older just much less developed due to the mbd being so advanced.
