Bradypodion pumilum (Cape Dwarf chameleon) Adult male.

The unpleasant day in the wind paid off in the end

A very healthy specimen that I did not disturb.
In fact he's not even looking at the camera!

Hi,

as you live in the Cape Area: Can you tell me the lowest temps pumilum and damaranum can handle ? I heard that it can snow in some parts of SA.

Hi Benny, they can endure near freezing conditions during bad weather spells.
Normally, we have snow on the mountains every year.
Damaranum are a little less tolerant of low temps.

Amazing such a small cham can handle temps that low. Great pic, that male is just stunning. Youve got alot of patience and a good eye. I bet that guy wasnt the easiest thing to even spot.

Ah ok, I had my transvaalense/damaranum/pumilum this year long outside, till mid of October. The weather was very good during day, up to 20°C, during the night it was very cold, near 0°C, but the animals showed their greatest coloration
