I would like to thank everyone. I rescued a veiled Cham from petsmart. he was housed in 5gal tank with 1 other female. When I first laid eyes on him I wanted him he was aggressive, active, and heathy. Instead of impulse buying him I decieded to read up on habitat. The posts here were helpful in making a habitat. Feeding(size, amount, various insects and supplementing). Lighting and temp gradiances. most importantly watering. After 2 days prep I got him. Named him Morken. First few says he had me worried, no poop, no drinking, he did however eat ravenously. I put in little dripper, then had to remove schefflera because he also was eating the leaves with the water. I Read post about giving him a warm bath. Boom out came a monster. 2 weeks later he is looking better, no yellow in poop. color is less drab. and he seems less agressive. I couldn't have done it with out all of you.:)

Great! Post some photos for us! Also, though it is awesome you got him and gave him a good life, please reconsider buying from petshops. You are still putting money into their pockets and sending the message that the chameleons will be bought- they are there for the profit and there will be another cham to replace the ones that are purchased. If you do not buy them, an individual may suffer but the store will probably stop stocking them after they realize they don't sell or live long in their care, therefore possibly thousands will be saved.

Congrats on your new family member and welcome to the forum- keep us updated! :)

I looked for other small time pet store. they only had babies. Morken is a juvie. next time I will try babies. The female they had did not make it, I dont think they will be getting any more. the lady said that was the third to die and i was the only person who bought one. I would have preferred getting one from scales and tails a mom and pa store. they too only had babies, there price was twice as much too. I think Morken was cheap cause they knew he would die. I will pay the extra next time. teaching him to drink was nerve racking,(he was used to drinking off the glass in front of his tank.) A baby can also be tamed to point, Morken hates being bothered exept for feeding. Im ok with that, but was hoping to hold him once in awhile.

Most veileds, even babies who were okay with it before, hate being handled and can be rather aggressive once they become teenagers and onwards. Feed him treats (silkworms, superworms, stick bugs, the rare waxworm) by hand and he will eventually come to trust you.

I suggest buying from legit breeders in the future (several are on this board! Julirs is one and has adorable babies right now and then there is FLChams as well if you want to order from a site)

I live in colorado, right now shipping is a no go. night temp is below freezing. I wouldn't chance it.
