Terrible day..

Well, this morning I wake up.. go to Lake Havasu to pick up my sister.. she loses the necklace someone gave her, we spend way too long at her old house, her tire blows out on the way there..

I realize we left the oven on, the A/C off (I think?) and now I am worried as hell... then come to realize, hey! Another tire just blew.

I am scared to death for my reptiles right now and feel like an irresponsible idiot.

I really hope everything is ok.. and I wish someone I trust could go check on them for me - but no one has any keys. I would give them permission to pull off the back door, that's how urgent this is.

To top it ALL off, we are stuck doing 45 because of this damn donut tire!!

If your using a phone to tell us this, cant you use it to contact somebody who can help?
I hope things turn out not as bad as they seem.

I'm deeply sorry for your troubles.

It's terrible when you really aren't looking foward to something, and you hope it's better than it sounds, but it ends up being worse... I hope something amazing happens that makes you feel better.

Jann I said this: "I really hope everything is ok.. and I wish someone I trust could go check on them for me - but no one has any keys."

I don't know about you but would you want someone you don't trust coming in to "check on the geckos"?
Most of the people around here would be more likely to steal something than check on my geckos.

Look on the bright side things could be much worse! Atleast you have opportunity to spend quality time with your sister. Im sure your pets are fine, the A/C is still on, the oven is off. (things like that become second nature, you do them without thinking about it as a matter ofcourse.)
Worst of your concerns is a slow trip home. :)
How do you get an internet connection while your on the road? Must have an isp with great wireless coverage! Atleast you can surf your favorite site. Smile and as Arny says in 'kindergarten cop' ...."Stop whining!" :D

If I was there I'd go break a window to get in to check them for you Sabrina. Sorry hun. :(

We have a sprint wireless broadband card. Quality time with my sister? She is yelling and screaming at me because she is havin a hard time.

Leaving the oven on will hurt your gas or electric bill, but probably nothing else (assuming the oven door was closed). I assume if you turned the AC off in the first place its because the weather has cooled down such that its not necessary.
You're only gone a short time, right? otherwise I suspect you wouldnt be leaving your animals unattended at all. So things will be probably be just fine.

Take it as a lesson to always leave keys with someone you trust, just in case, and have them check on the house once a day (all sorts of reasons, like burst pipes or HW tank, to make it looked lived in, to water the animals, etc). Its hard to imagine there is no one you trust whatsoever. A priest, a school teacher, a family member, a good friend, a co-worker or school mate, the receptionist at your doctors office, a professional pet sitter....

We only planned on being gone 6-8hrs max (and left EXTRA early), but because of the fact my sister's tire blew out we spent an extra 2-3 hours getting it fixed, stopping, moving the donut to the back tire, etc etc..

To be 100% honest, the only person I would trust with anything lives 30 minutes away and is usually busy with their own stuff. No one else is knowledgeable enough with reptiles.. Not only that but by park "rules" we are only allowed to give the spare key to a family member and they must be documented.

Make her laugh Syn, nothings breaks a bad mood better than something incredibly funny.
Its funny how, well after the time, the things you were so stressed about, seem like no big deal afterall.
Are you far from home now?

Tried that and she gave me one of the dirtiest looks I've ever seen.

70 miles give or take.

Whats the difference between michael jackson and a grocery bag? one is white, plastic, and dangerous to children, and the other you put groceries in.

If that wont cheer her up, nothing will!
