In all honesty I wouldn't be the position to tell you bcuz u prob have more experience than me with chameleons lol( only 11 months right now of exp.) I use one for basking and another one in the middle of one side of the cage for humidity

I got Karma last xmas, so around 11 months myself, unless you count researching which I spent two years doing prior, nobody really says WHERE to put them on blogs though, they just say to measure it.
