Hello, Lately my ac in my house has been on the fritz. I live in FL and the temp in my house is starting to increase due to my ac being out. I am thinking about moving my Jackson chameleon to my moms house for a few days while my temps are high. Right now my thermostat has peaked at 79. And I have a room fan going on during the day.He also has a cool mist fogger going on and a plastic Tupperware bowl with ice cubes in the top to drip cold water. The only thing I don't like about moving him to my moms are her noisy dogs and just relocation stress. I am also wondering if just moving him to a room with a small bedroom with a ceiling fan will help as well. Sorry if im all over the place this issue has kept me up for a bit. Any help will be appreciated.

When we had a heat wave last summer before I put an air conditioner in a window I used a very low watt basking and turned it off in the heat of the day -
I would look at your 10 day forecast -
Are you getting drops in temps at night ? It sounds like your doing what you can to make him comfortable and moving might cause him more stress. Peaking at 79 isn't as much of a problem if it's a peak- and his cage cools off in the morning and night - and it's not a long term thing- I went out and got the air conditioner when it looked like it was going on for another week- (normally my first floor is basement like and stays below 72)
How is he acting? Is he alert and eating or is he less active ? I would look for those factors in making the decision -

My Jackson atm is sitting under his basking light of all places. Its a bit cooler today with the storm we had here this morning. His activity is actually as normal maybe a little more alert and active. When my house was cool he would sit on his favorite perch all day. He still does that but has his head kind of perked up. I see him eat a little more and his color seems unstressed and a nice even lime color. He does not seem like he is stressed. At night the temps drop a little during the night and all the house lights are off while im at work at night. I think I was overthinking the problem. I have heard 80 degrees can really hurt jacksons so my mind instantly jumped to he is in danger.

Baby/juvenile (<9 months): 70-75F (21-23C) ambient, 75-80F (23-26C) basking
Adult: 70-80F (21-26C) ambient, 82-85F (29C) basking
So it's also age and cool down at night - I'm not sure as to the age of your guy from what I've read the cool down is important for digestion so I would make sure he's eating drinking and pooping - which it sounds like he is so he's probably getting enough of a cool down -

thanks for the help I managed to get my ac fixed the very next day I posted. It costed me every dime I had at the moment, but I make money nightly with tips so it all worked out in the end. The house is cool and he is not in any more danger of overheating. Thank you for the help.
