Temperture gradient in a warm home

I have a 5-6 month old veiled chameleon and I'm worried that his cage may be getting too warm due to warm ambient air temps, his hot spot is usually in the mid 80's but I've noticed it getting substantially warmer up to 90'sdue to recent weather, is it safe for him to not have a basking light? It should I make other arrangements to cool off the lower part of the cage? A fan? Cool most? Need advise before a cook my cham

He really only needs the basking light to warm up in the morning in those temps. You can set a timer that turns the basking light off before the room gets that warm. He will still get his UV from the fluorescent that doesn't produce as much heat.
