Tanzania June 2015

Hi All

I got to spend the month of June searching for chameleons in Tanzania. I visited the Ululguru, Udzungwa, and Usambara Mountains. Here are a few pictures of some of the chameleons I was able to find.

R. uluguruensis. Tegetaro Trail. Uluguru Mountains

Kinyongia uluguruensis. Near Bunduki Forest. Uluguru Mountains

Trioceros tempeli. near Mufindi. Udzungwa Scarp

Rhampholeon acuminatus. near Maskoti village Nguru Mountains

Kinyongia oxyrhina. near Maskoti village Nguru Mounatins

Trioceros deremensis. Amani. Eastern Usambara Mountains

I didn’t get to see your Facebook photos. I like the Trioceros tempeli (obviously) but did you see any T. goetzei or any other bitaeniatus chameleons?

I still love every picture, and thanks for posting them here, it is much easier for me to find them again than facebook is.

I still envy you for making that rip, even knowing I could never do what you did.

Sorry Trace no goetzi. Next trip I will go further south so chances will be better of seeing them.
Tempeli was the easiest species to find in and around Mufindi district. Local villagers collected so many I had to start turning people away.

I took around 1800 photos so there is plenty more. I will be putting together a few articles for the Chameleon E-zine which will have some nice ones.

Jann what fun would traveling to a 3rd world country be without some excitement!

Laurie I can always plan a nice easy week or two for you. Not much hiking needed if you stay at Amani.

Sounds as though it was a great adventure for you. Thanks for posting pictures of your expedition. Post more pictures!! Have you got any pictures of any male Kinyongia oxyrhina or Trioceros deremensis that you can post?

Lynda you know me too well! But in all honesty after this many years in the hobby I'd rather see them in the wild then in cages.

Here ya go Mike. Trioceros deremensis and Kinyongia vosseleri from Amani. I'll probably do a seperate post on Kinyongia oxyrhina showing the variation of the species throughout its range.
