how does everyone come up with the clear camera pics they get of there chams up close? My digital won't seem to let me get clear pics up close and personal like I am seeing and I would love to get some of the baby. Any help is appreciated!

On your digital camera do you have any settings? Like 'sport' (a little person running) for moving subjects or A face for close up images of people?

Well mine has an M, which does well. And i have a flower images which is really good for up close images too :D

My camera is pretty basic, not expensive at all and it doesnt do too badly

Look to see if your camera has a macro setting, it is usually a flower/tulip shaped icon. Then depress the shutter button half way to allow the camera to focus then completely depress the shutter button to take the photo. That's what I do with mine anyways, and it isn't a really expensive camera with a separate macro lens either. Actually, I took this photo of Tommy with my first digital camera and it only has 2mp. It's the macro function that really helps!

Just use google and learn what settings are good to use.. If you have a custom setting then you dont need a fast shutter speed but concentrate on image clarity. It might take awhile but it could be fun to learn a little about photography.

First of all WOW a nice picture:D

Some where on you camera or in the instruction manual is a "near-limit" mentioned this means the closest you can get to the obj you want to take a pic off, so if you stay very close to it ( use the macro mode as described) and maybe later crop the pic you should be able to get some very nice close up pictures without having to invest in expensive macro lenses or a expensive camera
I hope I make sense, if not I apologize for my poor English skills ( its been a while since I last used it)

Are you maybe trying to shoot through the cage? Modern cameras have auto focus and the cage will, in this case, ruin it. It wouldn't ruin it completely at the zoo where the programming would recognize a large object past the screen. (sometimes...it depends).

While everyone is singing the praises of MACRO that involves getting right up in your chameleon's face. I'd say open the cage, stand back to take your picture and then use an image handling program to crop to what you want to share/print. I use PhotoShop Elements, which is relatively inexpensive and very powerful. However, if you have a PC that's even remotely current you have the Microsoft Photo Editor which will let you do this.

If you have a Mac, I'm sure it came with a good, very functional program.

Most cameras that aren't on phones now (and some that are) take such huge files that you can get a very printable image from a relatively tight crop...if you can get it so your animal takes maybe 1/4 of the frame, it will make a great picture. It might still be a great picture if you can only get the animal to take 1/8 of the frame.

I have macro on my camera "cannon" and am going to try it out later! Thanks everyone for the information I didn't know that is what the function is for. I will be posting pics in general photography once I get them so keep an eye out! I appreciate the help though from everyone!
