Swollen legs

I'm also curious. So dog, cat, and fish food are bad to include in a gutload. How about bearded dragon food? A while back I wrongly purchased beardie kibble for my beardie (which she never ate) and I found that the crickets would eat it. (it's also nice because it's dry and doesn't go back) I've been using it as a gutload ever since. I think things have been okay with that... but I'm not actually sure if it's bad or not.

I also gutload with apple, carrot, bell pepper, and celery along with the kibble.

Read the ingredients of the beardie kibble. It may contain animal protein, or an excessive amount of vitamin a or other things you would not necessarily want going into your chameleon (via the crickets).
Just because the crickets eat it, and perhaps thrive on it, does not mean it is good for your chameleon.

@sandrachameleon

Hello. You advised me to do fecal test. I got the fecal test yesterday. The tests were positive on Amoeba (Entamoeba histolytica). The veteriarian gave me antibiotic called Metronidazol, which i should use for 5 days. Do you have any experiences with Amoeba?

Thank you for the advice

Sorry, no personal experience with Amoeba (Entamoeba histolytica) or Metronidazol. Have never heard of it. You might start a new thread with that as the topic and see if others have. There are some very knowledgable folks on this forum who may have advice.

Wow what to do...you have a parasite that affects the liver and a chameleon with clearly a liver problem (swollen legs...aka gout). Flagyl is not the easiest on their system but I guess you have to do it, I would be very light with the dosing and make sure you hydrate your chameleon very well. Again...keep with the feeders that are full of fluids...silk, horn, grubs...etc.

Good luck,

Chris
