Swimming!

Please do not worry I am not going to just try or experiment with this with my chameleon. But I remember seeing this video, and I am just curious, have you ever seen your chameleon swim? Do you let them swim?

Perhaps a bit of a silly question, as of course you'd see them swim, how else would they without you letting them? lol

Haha, Give the little guy a try, all chameleons are different so you never know what they might like:D

I have seen this video before and it is very cool. When Omar was a baby I had to give him a bath (I don't remember what he got into or on him) so I ran some warmish water in my sink and he about lost his mind when I put him in the water! Obviously they can if they have to, but I doubt it is for pleasure. I had actually been planning to try and make a little floating "island" with a perch so he could float in my pool and really soak up some UV! Unfortunately the universe had other plans for him. So instead of having some fun, I buried him in my rose garden yesterday.

That sounds like such a cool idea. But a chameleon surrounded by chlorine? Unless your pool has no chlorine. What happened?

I've never seen one swim... I wouldn't imagine they'd be very good at it.

I'm going to put Ender in the shower tomorrow. Maybe he'll get some bath time, too xD

Actually they can't "swim", they are just floating because their skin is water-proof (maybe not at all but not like mammal's skin). Their hands are the worst shaped hands to swim! So, when a chameleon falls into water, it float and freaks out, trying to walk but can't, he/she will be extremely stressed because of this non-walkable (bad english) place! So, forcing a chameleon to swim is just a torture for him/her.

I never did make a floatie for Omar. He died from a URI even with treatment.
It was only a thought since my pool gets great sun. I would have never actually put him in the water nor would I have not paid attention to him if he was on his island.

I do maintain my chlorine at a fairly low level; private pools do not have to be highly chlorinated like a public pool. Omar got a terrible burn from escaping from his cage and then got a URI.
