Supplementing with plain calcium

In addition to using Rep-Cal's Phosphorus-Free Calcium w/Vitamin D3 and Herptivite w/Beta Carotene. My chameleon also requires daily supplement of plain calcium w/ no D3. I've been having trouble finding plain calcium in pet stores and I'm trying to stay away from purchasing anything online with a credit card. So I visited a vitamin and organic health food market and found some. Here is what I have, It's manufactured by NOW: Calcium Citrate.

Is this ok and safe to use for my chameleon and anoles?

It's okay for tortoises/other lizards, so I think it would be for chameleons too. It's more easily absorbed, but it has less calcium by weight than calcium carbonate.

i wouldnt chance it either.. IMO

Would it be possible to call LLL reptile, explain you prefer to not use a CC. Maybe you could mail them a check, then they could mail the calcium.

I probably have some extra, I know i gave some supps to another member. But if I have another jar, I would be happy to mail it to you. It might take me a couple days, but I am happy to help

I would trust pssh that it is safe.

I should clarify why I would not use it.

She said it has a higher bio-availability, but lower actual calcium content.
Without knowing how much you are giving, you could wind up giving to little. Even if you dusted everyfeeder, it technically might not be enough.

So short term, sure I guess, long term no.

I couldn't find any actual info about using it with chameleons, so I can't say for sure that it is safe. Since it's okay for other reptiles I would assume it's okay though. I would probably use it if it was all I had.
