Supplementing for a 4 month ambilobe

Hey everyone,
So I got my ambilobe panther chameleon from the Kammer's last week on the 7th of October. In my other thread I posted pictures of him (Cedric Diggory Cheshire), how his cage is and what he eats etc. I just was wondering if this schedule soudns right to everyone, the Kammer's told me to follow this schedule until he is 12 months old, then cut it all down.

We use the following supplement products:

Herptivite (multivitamin with beta-carotene) - Mondays and Thursdays
Rep-Cal Calcium (calcium with and w/out vitamin D3 - depending on indoor or outdoor use) - Tuesdays and Fridays
Miner-All (calcium with essential trace minerals) - Wednesdays and Saturdays

The supplements that I have is the herptivite (multivitamin with beta-carotene), rep-cal calcium WITH D3, and the miner-all. Those are the supplements that came in my kit. I have been following this schedule but don't know if it is too much D3 or too less of something. I have been dusting very lightly when I feed my little man and just want to make sure this schedule sounds about right to everyone else.

I went through the forums and it seems that everyone has different suggestions? Basically what I am worried about it him OD on D3 if twice a week is too much, but he is only 4 months old and obviously still growing. Please let me know of your suggestions as I want my Diggory to be happy and healthy!

Thanks~

Tia

forgot to mention that his cage is indoors, half of the cage has some sunlight coming through from the window and the other half is shaded. But the windows block natural rays. Ive taken him outside for about 5 minutes only once to get some real sunshine. Am trying to let him get used to his cage more before I start handling him more.

I think the general concecus around here is calcium without D3 almsot every feedgin, like 5 or 6 times a week. Multi vitamin and calcium with d3 one every other weekend

Yea Calcium every feeding (depends on what you feed it...def crickets! there are some feeders high in calcium so no need to dust). And I do Herp and D3 twice a month. I think thats the general understanding so you dont give him too much D3. Yep, there is such thing as too much. And btw, UV rays dont reach your cham when there is a window in the way. Just an FYI :)

Calcium without D3 should be used lightly at just about every feeding.

Calcium with D3 twice a month

Multivitamin once a month

When he's older.....around a year cut back on the plain calcium to everyother feeding but leave everything else the same.

Yeah they do block natural rays aka UV rays, I mentioned that in my post ;)

But I don't want to start taking him out too much since he is still so new to his cage, want him to adapt to it all with no stress.

herp and D3 only twice a month? Is that enough though for a baby? I thought the babies needed a little more since they are still growing?

So out of what supplements I have the herptivite (multivitamin with beta-carotene), rep-cal calcium WITH D3, and the miner-all, I should be using the miner-all about every feeding, rep-cal calcium WITH D3 about twice a month, and the herptivite only once a month? Is that enough for a growing baby?

Thanks!

so this schedule from the Kammer's is too much for baby Cedric Diggory?

Herptivite (multivitamin with beta-carotene) - Mondays and Thursdays
Rep-Cal Calcium (calcium with vitamin D3) - Tuesdays and Fridays
Miner-All (calcium with essential trace minerals) - Wednesdays and Saturdays

Do I need to go otu and buy the Rep-Cal calcium without D3 because it didn't come with my kit, and it the miner-all and herptivite doesn't replace what the calcium w/o D3 does then I think I need to get it?

I use the schedule from the kammers and am raising over 80 or so baby panthers right now. They schedule the give is great up until about 7-8 months old.

If you go with what they have outlined you will be fine. I have raised a lot of panthers on that schedule and they do great!

So the calcium WITH D3 is ok to use twice a week like they suggested? They (Ed Kammer) told me to use this schedule up until he is a year. Is that ok? I am getting different answers from everyone! I do trust the Kammer's though because they have been raising chams for over 25 years, I am just unsure about whether I should get the rep-cal calcium WITHOUT D3 as well (even with the other stuff I have) and also if I should keep this schedule until he is 12 months? Thanks for your help!

Trust the Kammers they know what they are doing. The schedule is fine up until 12 months. Just use what you got from them. You will do great.

Ryan,
Thank you. I will do exactly what the schedule says then like I have been doing. Just didn't know if he needed more calcium w/o D3 or not, but I have the Herptivite (multivitamin with beta-carotene), Rep-Cal Calcium WITH D3, and the Miner-All (calcium with essential trace minerals), those are the 3 supplements that came with my kit, so I was unsure if I needed to go and buy rep-cal calcium w/o D3 or not, but the miner-all should be fine for calcium w/o. I will follow the schedule till 12 months then. Thanks so much :D
