Superworm vs Cricket Ratio

I usually feed my girl large crickets, but on a whim last time at the petstore I bought a little tub of 25 superworms. I was wondering how to best feed her these gigantic worms. She's almost a year old veiled, and she eats very well. I mean, these worms are huge. I find myself wondering how any lizard eats these things. Should I feed her like one every couple days as a treat? What's best with these monsters? Thanks in advance for the help.

Superworms are pretty high in fat (compared to crickets, anyway), so you do want to go easy on them. Gutload them just like crickets. Common advise is that any one feeder shouldn't make up for more than 20% of your cham's diet, but unless you have good access to a variety of bugs, that can be hard to maintain.

I would keep the superworms to about 20% of the total diet, though, no more. I found I had to offer them randomly, rather than have a superworm "day" - my cham would hold out for superworms if he knew he would get them on every Friday, for example. Dust your superworms with calcium.

Most pet stores have superworms in a variety of sizes in little cups, and they are pretty cheap. I always open the cup before buying - nothing sucks more than getting home and finding a cup of dead worms... You should also be able to find Reptaworms or Calciworms (brand names for black soldier fly larva) - these are good feeders too.

Yeah Iv'e fed with phoenix worms before, but they're so small I could offer a heap of them at once. These things are so big I just couldn't choose a portion. I guess one or two at a time would be good. I think my regular pet store only offers full size worms; I'll check out other stores near me for future worm supplies. Checking the tubs beforehand is a very good idea; I'll definitely do that next time. Thanks for the help.

My cham decided that he was only going to eat supers and I had to stop offering them for a while. It was like 4 days before he decided to eat anything else. Now I just randomly let him have a couple.
