anyone else a sugar glider parent? I got a fixed male and unfixed female - Yogi and Cinderella (aka Cindy).

hahaha! I know! Cindy is pretty chill and just likes her wheel, but yogi is freakin' crazy! he will run up the ramp of his cage, do a backflip, run in the wheel, poop and then repeat...all within 10 seconds. lol. Cindy, meanwhile, sits there and watches him and occasionally will crab *at* him when he runs into her, which always cracks me up. I could just imagine her talking: "yeah, well, try that again buddy and I'll REALLY give you something to run from!"

also, what do you feed them? I've started using the instant hpw and neither seems to like it much - I been putting a little bit in, on top of their regular food and they avoid the pieces with hpw on it, but if they get a bit on their noses, they lick it off like it's the yummiest thing ever.

I actually use the HPW Complete if its the same thing. I mix it up and freeze it in ice cube trays. I serve one large cube. They finish it completely and want more food.I mean they lick it clean its not even sticky, I was amazed. I got them already on that diet though. Past owner fed them that and pellets. I also give them fresh veggies and fruits every night too. I kind of spoil them and also give a little bowl of their pellet food mixed with oatmeal. They will dig out all the oatmeal. Its there treat. They will eat it out of the palm of my hand too and can smell it open from a mile away. I don't give much though it'll be like tiny slice of apple and some honey dew one night with tiny piece of mustard greens. Then next night something little different. Dehydrated fruit as well they like.

I learned to give them enough food to last though the night. I sleep in the same room as them. If they don't have food they will destroy their cages and chew on the feeding dish and sound like a woodpecker. I swear they are nuts. They are very chill in the morning hours and throughout the day. They often come out for snack and will jump onto my hand no skiddishness let me pet them check them out. Eat oatmeal from hand. Night they get supercharged and just want out. Yes they run that wheel till the morning hours. I really do need get them bigger cage or more free time.

I used to keep them for about 10 years but my last female died a year ago at the ripe old age of 8.5 years! Her name was Bubble and it really suited her as she was really quite small! They are the only small furries that I miss keeping, but I don't miss the mess on the walls, lol!

I think it's the same diet - mine have been on a pellet diet since day 1, although the two of them have a tendency to inhale yogurt drops like it's no one's business. they will eat fruit, but Yogi will just lick the fruit while Cindy will be the World Messiest Eater.

I did find out, completely by accident, that they love crickets and mealworms when ym feeder tower (a bunch of shelves stacked on top of one another) fell over one day while they were out and the two of them went CRAZY. Cindy was on the other side of the room and flew on over so fast and just started gobbling them up. I was laughing so hard. Now, they get crickets or mealworms when they are being good. Kukui, my cham, gets the rest. lol.

Aww, Lily, I'm so sorry Bubble died. I love these guys and I agree - in terms of small furries, they are awesome, although I am also partial to hairless rats (which aren't really furry lol). I do love my "big furries" though - my cat, my dog and my horse.

I gave one of the girls a cricket and they started fighting. The one tried to take off with it and the other chased, grabbed on and wouldn't let go. She actually pulled the fur out of the other.

I almost traded my 2 girls for a chameleon:( I couldn't though I think Id break their little hearts. So looks like I will have them for a long time to come.
