Stunted Crest Growth?

Hi all, I would like to know if thermal burns can permanently stop crest growth.

My male veiled chameleon is 18 months old. He has suffered thermal burns twice to the right side of his crest, the first time when he was 9 months old, the second when he was 15 months old. The burns did not become infected and after taking him to the vet, the vet told me they were healing well. Other than these burns he is growing well, eats and drinks well and now has a basking spot of 95 degrees which has stopped any further burns. He is currently housed in an Exo Terra tall 3ft X 2ft X 2ft tank and is going to be moved into a new Zoo Med 4 ft X 2ft X 2ft reptibreeze cage within the next few weeks. Overall he appears to be a happy and healthy cham.

However, despite good growth to his body (as you can see from his leg he has just recently shed) his crest has not grown for the last 6 months. I would like any experience/ opinions if the damage inflicted to his crest from thermal burns is permanent or if there is a chance that his crest may grow. All advice appreciated.
