so my male veiled seems to have some stuck shed around his eyes, i’ve had him since the 26th of september and there has been no improvement. any ideas on how to help him and prevent this in the future?

If you're misting him regularly it should come off eventually. Mine has this issue sometimes. I took a wet paper towel once to moisten a nickel-sized spot on my chameleon's rib cage that wouldn't flake off like the rest of the molt. I would soak the paper towel and gently dab it on the molt. After a few days it started to crack and then came off within another day or two. Since you're having this issue around his eyes... i would just make sure to give his head a good soaking twice a day when you mist him.

he absolutely hates being sprayed even gently, should i still do it anyways, as gently as i can? i mist him at least 3 times a day usually about 5x but his previous owners did once in the morning then again at about 5pm so maybe it will come off soon with the improvement in misting but if not i’ll try the methods you mentioned, thank you!

Gotta find a perch or see if you can manage to get him to sit still long enough. It’s not a big deal, don’t totally stress him out over it. We really don’t have any previous weights to compare it to anyway

alright i’ll see if i can do it a little later today as i just put him back after he walked out, ill work on finding something for him to perch on

What happened to his spine? I’m curious, forgive me.

And what do you feed him and how much? Supplements?
Gutload?
so about his spine, i have no idea, the previous owners rescued him and they said the last person was careless and that he must’ve had some sort of accident or something, but i have a feeling he may have been born that way as i assume an injury like that would kill a cham, but again i have no clue as to what happened just what i was told and my own speculation

so i’ve only had him since the 26th of sept, so i frequently reference what the previous owner did as it’s still relevant for a while, but anyways she fed him 10 crickets every day, no calcium no supplements no variety. i fed him 8 crickets and 2 superworms a day (calci dusted), but changed that since my last post to 5 crickets and 2 superworms (calci dusted) every other day as he never wanted to eat all the crickets anyways, and i learned every other day is a better schedule, after my last post which i learned a lot in, and go way more into detail (here it is if you wanted to check it out:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/where-to-buy-veiled-safe-plants.166007/ ) but i will soon be getting vitamins to dust them with every other week and getting a wider/better variety of feeders

The damage to the ridge on his back are likely from the basking light too close to him. If his basking branches are too close to the light, it will cause shed problems on his back ridge, eventually the little spikes get brittle since the shed isn't coming off and when he falls or something, they break off, will bleed or show visible "meat". I had this problem because mine grew so fast that i didn't lower his branches in conjunction with his new girth so his back was getting too much heat.

Mine hates being sprayed too. Some love it some hate it. I have a mister in his cage now so I don't need to spray him as often.

his basking branches are about 6 or so inches away and he can move down or over but he still likes to stand on the mesh and get as close to the light as he can idk how to stop him, any ideas?

The temperature change on his back from 6 to 8 inches can be quite a big difference. If his branch is 85 degrees the top of his back could be over 100 depending on how big he is.

So you're saying he is climbing on the screen to get right next to the light? It seems a little strange unless he wasn't getting enough heat--i could see him trying to access more heat if that's the case. I'm not sure about that one. Check the temperature of his basking branch, remember every inch closer to that bulb will be alot higher. Make sure you're giving him the right supplements and keeping his cage clean. Thats about all I can help from my experience. Good luck.

yes he will climb on the screen to get even closer to the light but here is a picture of where i have the temperature probe and the temperature it’s reading at and his different perching options i know it’s not the best but i’m working on it i also plan to get him a taller cage as he’s a male and is in a 3ft tall cage rn and i just learned he was a male yesterday, the woman i got him from told me he was female, which i now know is not true
