still in need of help

Ok i know this is my third post about the same thing but im really worried bout my cham. i cant seem to get a hold of the right suppliments with out the $30 shipping charges. the vet i took gonzo to was usless so took him to the pet shop. The guy in there gave me Nutrabol and said this supliment is higher quality than what im using an will be better for him but i think its to much to be giving him every other day because he is now getting the crusty bits on his nose. i looked up a discription on it and it states- A vitamin/mineral supplement specifically formulated as a high calcium "balancer " to correct diets deficient in calcium.

what do i do about the other suppliments. is there any one else in the uk that could advise me where i can get them. my poor gonzo is very stressed with all thats going on to him. havent seen him happy colours unless he is sleeping for about a month now. pool little thing.

i dont know what to do next for him. i know he needs to be eating more so i have been puttin 10 crickets in a tub for him every day and giving him wax worms, meal worms and pheonix worm which he eats no bother but he doesnt seem too interested in the crickets.

Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated. you guys know what your talking about which is more than what i have in the real world here

Hi! I'm also in the UK. I have used Nutrabol in the past. You need to be giving plain calcium as well as the Nutrabol. I dust Lily's food like so: Mon, Weds, Fri dust all food with Calypso cricket (plain calcium), then once per fortnight (usually at a weekend) I use the multi vitamin on all feeders for the day. Using Nutrabol alone may cause over supplementation of certain vitamins.

$30 shipping is really not all that much anyhow. Even 30 pounds. Compared to the health of your chameleon, the avoidance of potential vet bills.....

Lump on foot

ok so i was taking some photos of gonzo to post to let you see him size as its been a few weeks since the last photos ( i dont think he has grown but his point on his head seems to be getting taller) any way i noticed a lump on his front right foot. at first i could only see 2 toe nails but its was just the way he is sitting, can you guys help any? i Dont see any cuts or point where infection can get in, just seems to be a lump....... im puzzled and seen as my vet has proved him self usless im in need of more advice from you guys. ( my husband is sitting telling me you guys will be telling me to go away and leave you alone soon lol)

ill phone around all the vets in my area tomorrow. there has to be some one that knows some thing about chameleons or who at least can be bothered to speak to some on else who know stuff about chameleons

i phoned the around all the vets today and none of them have any one who knows much on reptiles. the last ones i spoke to are going to find out where the nearest reptile vet to me is but recon is a 2-3 hour car trip, What would i do for transportation for gonzo?

i took gonzo to the pet shop where i got him because that's the only thing local who at least know a bit about reptiles and he said that he looks anemic because the inside of his mouth is very pale. He said the lump in his foot is probably an infection and now that i think about it he kept grabbing his own foot trying to run away fro me tho other day so maybe he grabbed it a bit hard and caught it with his claws. what is the best way to treat anemia- is there any thing i can buy or does it need to be vet prescribed? again any help is great

I typically take my chameleons to the vet in a shoe box or similarily sized container. towel on the bottom, with a dowel or branch stuck low in it. In the dark, they settled down well. If using a cage, consider covering it so that the zooming by of traffic and such is not a potential stress

spoke to a proper reptile vet today and this is the advice she gave me
1: raise his basking spot temp to around 90
2: change his uvb bulb from 10% to 5%
3: mist him as often as i can to keep him hydrated as his eyes are gone a little sunken as hes stopped eating and drinking to to all the stress from taking him to other vet and pet shop.
she also advised to try not to force stuff into him just drop a little water on his mouth and he will hopefully take it him self- Less stressfull than trying to open his mouth
4: she told me to start using Critical Care Formula to get some nutrients into him.

This advice was given to me as a first attemt to see if he is going to brighten up a little. If not then she has told me to come straight to her and she will take bloods and fecial samples and send them off.

I know normally if would be bloods and fecial straight away but shes wiling to try working with me over the phone to save him the stress of a 100 mie journey for her to tell me the same thing in person.

We will see how the next week or so goes and ill keep you guys updated

Call your vet back and see if she will let you mail (overnight) some poop for a fecal. It could very well be parasites that's making him sick and keeping him from gaining weight. Parasites can kill them if not treated.

Can you give some infos on how you keep him ? There's a sheet somewhere here where you can put all those informations in. Parasites wouldn't kill him normally when all the other factors are alright

i dont htink its paracites. i think its me being very guilty of thinking oooooo thats a cool pet to buy my husband for his birthday and not knowing any thing about them, then being told that he only needs supplimented with multi vitamins every other feed.Im putting it all down to lack of calcium and proper supliments to help him grow. i also was not aware that i could feed him stuff other than crickets so for the first 6 months all he was getting was 4 crickets a day dausted with multi vitamins with d3 every other feed. I htink all these things add up to him being the size he is.

I now know a heck of a lot more and im trying my hardest to make up for poor husbandary.
Pet shops should not be allowed to sell these pets to ppl unless they are convinced that they know the person is able to look after them.
I feel so guilty and hope its not to late

If he's never had a fecal then you don't know. Parasites can cause them not to eat and it seems your guy has never had much of an appetite. A young veiled should be eating 15 to 20 crickets a day. Jann

ill see about getting one of those done. i still cant get my head round the fact he has just never grown in the 9 months i have had him. i just found a photo we took just a week or 2 after we got him and i know its not a great photo but you can see general size. it doesnt look to me like he has grown. it make me sit and wonder how its possible for him still to be alive. poor little thing

The one on the computer is last july. The one on the carpet was him freeking out and playing dead becuse he doesnt like flat surfaces and that was yesterday
