Started out as an eye problem...

Like many animals, chameleons hide being ill until they can't hide it any longer. Once they show it, it's very far along. There's really no way any sort of environmental change will show a dramatic positive effect in 2 days.

I would drip water on his "nose" to try to stimulate drinking.

I would also offer worms at this point. Butter worms or wax worms. You need to get some calories into him and you can place a worm in front of him without it getting away too quickly. You probably shouldn't give more than 2 a day and if he perks up, back off on the fatty worms. They aren't the best nutrition, but they have a lot of calories and can stimulate eating.
