Start of mouth rot?

So today I was feeding bort and I noticed that his mouth on his left side looked off. Kind of wrinkled a bit? In the picture you may or may not be able to see it but it's where his lip looks like it's kind of dirty. When he chews, the corner of his mouth inside is pink and fleshy (maybe an abscess?) however the other side looks normal. What do you all think?

@Klinger #4077 Look on the inside. Try to get him to gape and have someone take a good picture of the inside of the lip.

They often get little injuries to their mouth. Most crickets are kept in really filthy conditions so it is it isn't hard for them to get a little infection. Sometimes all that you need to do is to wipe out any accumulated debris from the area and keep it clean. A Q-tip will work. I dealt with this once and all I did was clean up that area once with a plain Q-tip and just watch it. It cleared up on its own.

Totally agree with Janet, from the sounds of the puffy description it is probably just an irritated area that got cut and has started getting a slight infection or on the way to one. Definitely take pics and clean it real well. Otherwise there is no reason to rush off to the vet unless the pictures show something more worrisome. This would be more like home care and then wait to see.

A diluted hydrogen peroxide 3% with 50% of water along with the q tip is what I used if any visual cut inside that lip ,if its a bad cut u will need to go to ur vet and get the prescribed meds,before he gets a hunger strike on a mouth rot.

Alright thanks! I noticed it not too long ago but he still eats normally so I hope it's nothing too bad or could recover quickly

Ur welcome,as long it heals properly he is good to go.
In my case I do examine their lips n clean their lips with diluted mouth washer or peroxide I mentioned with soft q tip when they needed,it keeps the gum healthy so far but if its a heavy damage cut or severe mouth rot ,it will need the prescribe meds form the vet asap before they get worst n stop eating completely.

Just curious, since mouth rot is an infection, would I be able to treat it with baytril or just keep cleaning it? I still have a lot of baytril from when I thought he had a UTI and the vet told me the amount needed whenever I administer it for whatever reason.

It all depends on how bad is the mouth rot and what types,baytril is one of the med they use....did the cham had a history with URI in the past ??Stomatitis can rapidly turn into and RI or osteomyelitis is you're not careful.

I thought he was developing a UTI but the vet said he doesn't think so but had me administer baytril for a week to be sure. Haven't seen anything happen since. As for the cleaning, should I use the q tip just outside on the abrasion looking part or have him open up and wipe the inside along it?

UTI is a total different situations,the respiratory and the bone disease are what I meant with the mouth rot part if it gets worst ,I believe the dosage on the symptoms between the UTI and the symptoms with ur chameleon right now could be different,I would consult ur current vet before u give him the Baytril.
Regarding the Listerine(mouth washer) what I did on mine for periodically prevention is 8qtips along with diluted solution of the mouth washer 1qtip on the upper part inside n 1 for the bottom ,same for the other side, then I repeat with just plain warm water to do the final rinse just to take away the left over in between 5 to 10 min ,so the cham has few min to let the mouth wash do the works before completely rinse off and so far all mine is healthy on their mouth part,I dont feed them anything has large sharp legs and I gutload n supplements them with the correct recommendations.
