Spoiling Jackson's

So I have a a few statements. I think my Jackson's is just a plain Jane. He eats crickets and lots of them. He has had maybe 2 Dubia roaches and maybe 3 hornworms. I've owned hime for a month now. He won't touch wax, super, or butterworms. Idk how you guys feed worms to your chams but mine seems to have no interst. I've put them in a bowl at the bottom of his fav schefflera tree. I also have a med sized schefflera next to it which is in his "cool" spot. Then in the warmer section I have his golden pothos. He has plenty of access to the little bowl, but only eats his crix. I was thinking about getting mantids and tryin them? What do you guys think?

1 kudos for keeps a schef alive. As for food, chams change their mind alot, even month to month. Some wont eat crickets after they are full grown, mine doesnt like meal worms right now and those are suppose to be cham candy.

You could always try offering bugs in diff ways. Mine will only eat dubia from tongs. He also will only eat a few super worms if they are crawling upside down on the screen top. He wont eat horn or silk worms unless i leave the room.

You could also try diff feeder cups. A giant salad bowl, a sunnyD death trap. Or for dubia put them on their backs on a really slick bowl so they cant right themselves for a few minutes.

Right now I have a 8 oz deli cup with a mesh bottom. I was thinking of switching it out with a Tupperware bowl I made instead? And should I hang the bowl in his tree towards the bottom? Or where do I put it?

I put mine mid way or towards the top, since mine as a lid (cut up 2L bottle) and he cant get to it from the bottom of the cage.

I think adding more variety would help him in general but it seems like you have a great system! Trying something new is always good though and the Mantids are a fantastic Idea! I would run with it if you can get your hands on them.

Idk he has 3 live plants and vines to get all over one 4 ft schefflera on 2 foot schefflera and a potted golden pothos then he has plenty of vines all over and I have a two liter sprite bottle that he snipes crickets out of. Any other bug he's picky

Try blue bottle flies. My Jackson's eat everything. Perhaps his setup is not to his liking?

Yes, dump some spikes in the enclosure, and let them hatch out for him to hunt, hell !@#$ing love it.

Mantids will be a go as well.

In my experience, it was harder to get my jackson to try worms, though she did like them when she finally did.

My Jackson's don't care much for Dubias.
They like feeders that move a lot more.

Phoenixworms/Calciworms are excellent--very high in calcium and they wiggle a lot. You can find them in some petstores.

Blue Bottle flies are a feeder that your cham will probably go crazy for.
This place sells them--click Feeder Insects on the left

You can order BB pupae, spikes or both. Spikes are the wiggly form and pupae are what they become next and they hatch into flies from.
I've ordered from both places and have found them to be reliable.
If you breed some garden snails or some isopods (pillbugs, rolypolys) to be sure they haven't been dosed with pesticides or harbor parasites (maybe they do maybe they don't), your Jackson's will probably go nuts for them and they're high in calcium.

Isopods are sold at some places online like here:

Land snails are pests, so you need to raise your own and never use water snails as they are known to harbor harmful parasites.

My Little guy made me so proud today in spite of this post he decided to eat some Phoenix worms that I originally bought for my leopards and he at his first meal worm as well! I just put them on the leaves of a plant and bam he snagged them right up
