What are spikes maggots and are they used for feeders? Haven't heard that term before.
I think they’re just maggots. Usually bluebottle fly maggots. I don’t think people typically feed the spikes, they just let them pupate, and feed off the flies. For mental stimulation and hunting response, flies are good; however, I don’t know whether they can be well but loaded, so they might be just a treat. What are spikes maggots and are they used for feeders? Wow, that's funny. Who would of thunk? A smorgasbord of little wigglieshttp://www.knutsonlivebait.com/extrabright_maggots.html
Oh the colors, the colors.
Its just another name for the common fly, thats why you cant find any info on what they "really" are.
Also they eat "meat" so you cant really gut load.
The flies are fine and can be gutloaded on a liquid mix of honey, pollen, and other powders that you can make into a liquid/paste. I used to mix it all up and put on a cotton ball for the flies to feed on.I set them up to pupate and feed off as flies over weeks at a time. It's like an auto feeder.
Are they not healthy for the cham as part of a mixed insect diet ?
He seems to love them. I have the blue bottle flys.
