something stick out of his vent

just admiring my cham when i noticed he had a little something sticking out of his vent, maybe like 1/16th of an inch or so, tanish brown.

any idea what that could be/ mean? so far i've never noticed anything like this on him so since its new to me i thought id ask rather than assume its nothing.

i was under the impression they were red, but like i said.. its only about 1/16th of an inch out.. maybe less.

ohhhkay. i just went to check on him before i responded and he was .. using the little girls room and yeah, hemipene..check.

hope he sucks it back in, read that can be bad if he doesnt. i guess ill update this later to see if alls well.. maybe the tan thing is sticking out everytime before he goes and i just never noticed (i dont stand around and look at his vent all day after all..)

also, if anyone reads this - does pretty glossy poo mean anything in particular? every time i've seen him go his poo is surrounded in a glossy substance, i assume this is normal? some sort of natural lube maybe?

yeah it is ok, it is just what the poop looks like. As long as the whole poop itself is solid and not watery. I have seen my cham's hemipene many times and it definitely is not tan, it is red! The males will get sperm plugs that are tannish in color that they will drop on occasion, but I am not sure if yours is too young for that.

If it's tan/brown it's probably a sperm plug and males usually deposit them during defecation. Try upping the amount you mist him on a daily basis to ensure he passes them.

Do not pull on it until you know for sure that it is a plug and not his hemipene!

how early do they ... make? sperm plugs? hes like 4 months old right now.

dont typically like to bump but im curious to hear others opinions on whati t could be. whatever it is it seem dry, it could be something just stuck to him but it looks like its coming out of him. idk.

Sweet! One less thing on my list.

The males start producing sperm plugs around sexual maturity which is, give or take, about 6 months so your guy isn't out of the ordinary. It does look like a sperm plug to me but I won't definitively say so as those pics aren't completely clear. The plugs do need to come out and upping misting sessions to rehydrate the animal will work. A short bath will also help to soften the debris so he can pass them.

how long will it take for him to discharge it himself? ive added a few minutes of extra misting but can add more depending on how humid/wet it needs to be.

also, after how long should i attempt to extract it (assuming it is a sperm plug) im going to search for a video on how to extract it but if anyone wants to write some instructions im happy to read them and they would be much appreciated. ive read a lot of threads on them but i dont recall any real instructions
