Some quick advice

Hey guys--

My vet knows his reptiles, but he is not an expert on chameleons. recently I've noticed some stringy saliva in my chams mouth.I know this can indicate a respiratory infection, and my vet said he noticed a higher than normal viscosity in his mouth. He said to leave it for a few days (its been a few days) and that if there is no change he would write the scrip for an antibiotic--just want to run it by some more experienced cham keepers. Im making an appointment with another vet that was recommended to me by another chameleon enthusiast, who says the vet knows a lot about chameleons. But, I'm wondering if I should just go and get the prescription first, instead of waiting and letting the possible infection fester? What do you guys think?

With christmas around the corner, and the fact that you have said that your current vet knows reptiles, honestly I would go for the script.

Zlew, I am not an expert by any means, but at least if you have the drugs to hand, and your cham worsens over the festive period, when it might be near enough impossible to get to see a herp vet, then at least you have something that will keep an RI at bay until the new year?

Make the second appt. If it is within a week, maybe half dose with the antibiotics. Won't be as hard on the system and could possibly keep the 'infection' stationary and unprogressing. Best to always know, as ANY meds are hard on chams. But, half doses could possolibly help and put your heart to rest for christmas, while waiting on 2nd opinion. Good luck. :) (keep in mind I am no expert on this subject, as I am yet to have an URI.)
