I have 7 months old ambilobe male. I noticed today that some nails are broken, more or less. I read before that thing happen, and when we made new cage, we have used plastic screen, metal is only on the top to prevent this and protect him. Are nails growing again?
Don't know is that supplement problem. I am giving him all recommended here on the forum.

I think where they broke off they will grow again. My chameleon had one nail that broke off about where you are showing and it grew back longer. He also had one break off below the skin line and it never came back and now he is missing one. P.S. I love the foot shot in the second photo, even if he has a couple of broken nails! Edit: looking back as the second pic, those nails may not grown back, they look to have broken off pretty low. You just have to wait and see!

Does he climb on the screen a lot? If so then he's probably just wearing them down - the screen is like a giant nail file. My panther's nails were always filed down to nubs because he was always climbing on the screen. So I built him a big outdoor cage to give him more space and he doesn't do that anymore and all his nails grew back like normal.

from what ive read as long as they break like in the middle of his nail and not below the skin he should be fine. i resuced a male veiled 2 days ago and hes missing claws on every outside facing toe. wheather they grow back or not i dont know. they seem to break very deep and ive only noticed one thats starting to grow in again. he can climb fine except on my shirt and the mesh. other than that he seemes fine, they seem to adapt well.

As long as the nail hasn't been pulled from the socket you are ok. Most nails will not grow back. Once they are cut or pulled, they are done growing.

If you do have a nail that is pulled out of the socket it is very very wise to get some tripple ointment or silvidine on the wound. You don't want them to get an infection. treat the wound twice a day with whatever you decide to use.

Jackson chameleons ALWAYS have toe issues. You need to be extra careful with them. It will take them down.
