Hello, ok so my 7m nosy be has been having problems lately....im pretty sure he has a beginning case of URI.....his humidiy has been very low due to we live in montana...dry heat...so i bought a cool mist humidifier...that wasnt bringing the humidity up much....so now were trying a warm mist...well that doesnt seem to be bringing the humidity up either...do i not have it close enough to his cage? its about 3 ft away...im afraid the steam might burn him...the steam is not too hot though. I bumped up his mistings to 5 times a day....and he has not been eating either. :( Maybe a vet visit is an order.:(

Take him to the vet, a URI needs to be treated ASAP. Bump up his basking schedule a little bit as well and wipe off as much mucus off out of his mout as possible.

He wont let me by his mouth at all....but im definitely taking him to the vet.... poor lil guy :(

He was in our bedroom and the meter was sayin 30% today we cleaned his cage out and decied to move him in our bathroom instead. more sunlight in there. and the reason i thought he had RI was his mouth was all foamy and he was having labored breathing. But since he moved him to the bathroom he seems happier and the foam has cleared up

Keep a real good eye on him, if he has thick ropey saliva, foam stuff in his mouth or a popping or labor sound when he breathes I would see I vet quickly. Let us know how he goes.

I will be in Billings Friday if you want to say hi.

The cool mist humidifier is safer and you can put it a lot closer to his cage. It will raise the cage humidity better if you also drape some plastic over part of the cage such as the back and sides. 30% humidity is too low.
